An uncommon resident in the south and west.A species of broadleaved woodland, scrub and old hedgerows.Overwinters underground as a pupa. Adults come to light and visit sallow catkins.Note similar to Red Chestnut but the oval mark and kidney mark are largely creamy white and are distinct.
